1. Luxy Lemon Charing Phone case
I say a luxy lemon one because they are cute as heck (not sponsored) but really any charging phone case is super handy. It’s the best for long days so you don’t need to stress about not having access to a map, tickets, or addresses for your accommodation!
2. iPad with a keyboard
I love travelling with my iPad and having a keyboard for it makes it easy to get work done on the road (if need be). It’s like having a mini laptop that is super light and can fit in my purse.
3. Maps.me App
This app is amazing! You can download specific maps (like Uganda) before heading on your trip and then you don’t need to be connected to wifi or have data to find your way around. I think google maps does a similar version too which you could also try. I personally like this one because other travellers will put things on it like where to find a good sunset view and they also have reviews at restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
4. Packing cubes
I love packing cubes!!!! When you’re backpacking and constantly re-packing your belongings these are so helpful to stay organized and maximize space. I really don’t know what I did before – truly life changing.
5. A really good medical kit
This one’s a lot less cool but still so important and useful! When you get sick when on vacation it’s sometimes difficult to know where to go to get basic over the counter medicine. I typically just bring the essentials to cover a stomach bug or cold.
6. A filtered water bottle
Depending on where you’re heading, these can be so great to have. There’s a few different options out there now and they kill all bacteria and viruses so it’s safe to drink water everywhere whenever you need. It saves you money and saves on less plastic water bottles!
7. A CAMERA
(or an iPhone because who are we kidding these days they’re almost as good)
8. A small purse or day bag
Never underestimate the usefulness of a little day bag/purse for your day to day travel. We always pack our backpacks and large bags but you usually don’t want to be carrying those around all the time and a little over the shoulder bag will be one of your favourite things you packed.
9. A memory card adapter for iPhone/Ipad
For those of you who like to take pictures and don’t want to travel with your laptop (but want to see your pictures before getting home) then this guy is the best thing ever!! One of the best and most convenient purchases I’ve ever made.
10. A passport case
For those travel bugs, you know that eventually your passport gets pretty bugged up. It gets tossed around and squished in your bag, spilt on and eventually starts to fall apart. Get a good passport case that it can easily be removed for going through security but that will protect it for the rest of your trip.
